Color Vision and Independent Comic Books…we grew up together!
Color Vision was founded in 1984, just as the Modern Age of
comic books was getting underway. It was an exciting time to be in the printing
business, as independent comic book creators and self-publishers began to
compete with the large publishing houses and their long-established
superheroes.
Though comic books had traditionally been aimed at a younger
audience, the influx of independent writers and illustrators ushered in a
variety of new genres and themes that appealed to adult readers. Also, where
mass marketing had once dominated the industry, the wide diversity of new comics
pioneered a trend toward niche marketing.
During the 1990's, independent comic books took another historic
leap forward with the debut of Digital printing. Digital printing technology made
smaller production runs more affordable. This meant comic books no longer had
to be produced in huge quantities to achieve a low unit price. Needless to say, the advent of digital
printing was a huge development and helped propel the independent comic book
industry toward the immense success it enjoys to this day.
We want to be Your Comic Book Printer
Color Vision has developed a strong reputation for producing high-quality comic books at very affordable prices. So whether you are looking to print a standalone
"one-shot" comic book, or multiple issues in a limited or ongoing series, be
sure to get a quote from us. By the way, all our comic book projects are printed
in the USA.
Unlike typical online printers that only communicate through
an email or upload, we are a traditional printing company. That means you can
talk to a real live person any time you need assistance or guidance. We also
have a fully-staffed graphics department to preflight your artwork files and ensure they are print ready.
In addition to our digital printing presses, we have offset
presses for producing medium to long run projects. We can print using Full-Color
Process (CMYK), Pantone colors, Black and White, Grayscale, or any combination
of these color systems. We also offer a wide selection of paper choices for the
pages and cover, as well as a variety of gloss, matte, and soft touch coatings.
Most of the comic books we produce are bound with
the saddle-stitch binding method. We also use perfect binding with PUR adhesive
for thicker comic books and graphic novels. Our specialty finishing options
include embossing, foil stamping, die-cutting, spot UV, and laminates.
We’ll print Any Size or Genre
At Color Vision, custom sizes are never an issue. Your size
choices are virtually unlimited. Also, in addition to the traditional portrait
orientation, we can produce books in a square or landscape mode. We also print a lot of comic book projects with variant covers.
Because we view comic books as an imaginative blend of art and literature, we place no limits on your creativity. We accept comic book and
graphic novel projects within all genres.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss an upcoming project, give us a call at 800-543-6299. Or, use our Quote Request form to send us your specifications and we will be happy to email a quote to you!
Color Vision would like to extend our sincere thanks to Mindy Indy for allowing us to display a sampling of her projects. Mindy is the creator, writer, and illustrator of the AER HEAD comic book series. All three images on this page are used with her permission.
